Great soul Dr. William Carey was a founding member and pioneer missionary of the Baptist Missionary Society. He was born on 17 August 1761. Dr. Carey along with John Thomas, a doctor volunteered to go to India as a BMS Missionary and they arrived there in November 1793. From this time until his death in India in 1834 Dr. Carey devoted himself to Missionary work, Bible translation, campaigning against injustices, publishing Bangla magazine and Bangla Gramar, theological teaching and different social development works. He has often been considered “the father of modern mission”.
BBCS placed his mural in its campus and opened a library on his named to honor and memorize his deferred soul and his Valorous deed. BBCS president Mr. Joyanta Adhikari has inaugurated this library (Dr. William Carey Memorial Library and Research Center) on 17 August 2013. It is a great opportunity for who is studying in theology.
